I am a licensed psychologist with over 25 years of experience helping adults and adolescents navigate depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, and the challenges associated with parenting and caregiving, chronic medical issues, identity questions, and issues related to ADHD including procrastination and self criticism. I have trained therapists and developed specialized treatment programs at New York University and at Teachers College, Columbia University.
Hi, I'm Dr. Arthur Chen, a licensed psychologist in Boca Raton and a Clinical Director. My passion is helping you navigate challenges and build lasting well-being through evidence-based strategies, genuine empathy, and active collaboration.
I specialize in Major Depressive Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, eating disorder recovery, and substance abuse recovery. Our practice, where I'm Clinical Director, also handles severe issues like bipolar disorder and psychosis.
My style is active, empathetic, and results-oriented. I don't just listen; I provide direct feedback and insightful questions to deepen your self-awareness. I'll gently challenge you to explore new perspectives and identify patterns, always in a safe space. My core is unconditional positive regard and profound care, ensuring you feel safe and accepted, truly heard and understood.
My strength is equipping you with practical skills for daily life. I provide concrete tools to manage difficult emotions, improve communication, develop robust coping mechanisms, and cultivate emotional resilience. My commitment is tangible results: symptom reduction, sustainable recovery, deeper self-discovery, and ultimately, an improved quality of life. Whether you want to "figure things out" or enhance your mental fitness, I'm here to guide you.
As a New York native, a first-generation Latina, and a licensed clinical therapist, I have a deep commitment to making therapy more accessible, affirming, and real—especially for communities that haven’t always had a seat at the table.
Growing up, therapy wasn’t something people around me talked about. Between financial struggles and cultural stigma, mental health care felt out of reach. That’s part of what led me here—to become the kind of therapist I wish I had when I was younger.
I earned my Master’s in Social Work from Touro College in New York. I’ve spent the past 8 years working closely with children, teens and adults, helping them navigate anxiety, trauma, identity challenges, and life transitions.
I'm passionate about empowering others to know their true worth, to face their past, their fears or anything else that may be keeping them from living out their God given gifts and purpose. I have had the honor of serving as a counselor in the Capital Region of New York for almost 15 years and 6 years ago opened my own private practice.
